Assessment About Books Fruits Basket, Vol. 14 (Fruits Basket #14)
Overall Rating: A to the cute powerSynopsis: Fruits Basket is a shōjo manga series created by Natsuki Takaya that follows the life of Tohru Honda. When the series begins, Tohru is living in a tent in the woods after being recently orphaned when her mother died in a car accident. Somehow, Tohru is able to remain optimistic despite all the shit she has had to go through. While wandering through the forest she's living in, she runs across the house of the Sohma family. As it happens, Tohru goes to

My second favorite volume of my favorite series. ^_^When it came out, I reviewed it here: http://umadoshi.livejournal.com/16821...

I mentioned in an earlier review that Rin is seriously misunderstood and that theres more complexity than what weve been shown. This volume explores those layers and provides Rins background. Its impossible not to feel for her. Most Sohma parents are shit... We also see the beginnings of something between her and Tohru. We have a few moments with Hiro at the beginning of this volume, and I have to admit he was actually likable in this book. We see a different side of him. He cares and is

A new year, a new Fruits Basket!Oh my gosh this volume is just an emotional overload for me. Poor, poor Isuzu. I feel bad saying it, but I had completely forgotten parts of her backstory, and now I've reread them and they've hit me afresh, and dare I say, even harder than they originally did. I gotta say, I am complete agreement with Tohru on this one. This poor girl! I just want to wrap her in a blanket and give her a hug and tell her everything will be all right. :_(I will say though, I love

Right from the start this manga had me hooked. How can you not like Tohru? She has to be one of the sweetest people on the planet. All the hopes of breaking the Sohma curse fall on her head. It was interesting to see the relationships grow and change throughout this series. Not only are the characters great, but the storylines were fantastic, although somewhat depressing at times. This is the one series that everyone should read. It was outstanding.

Most of this volume is focused on Rin, who is very ill and fighting her urge to confide in Tohru. She's very conflicted, wanting to be friends with Tohru, but also wanting to be independent. She hates admitting that she needs help or comfort from a friend. She thinks it's a weakness to need others, and she's determined to be strong, but it's really just her pride holding her back. I loved finding out about Rin's past with her parents and with Hatsuharu. Their love story is so wonderful and

This is a nostalgia series for me. There are definitely flaws and some things that don't hold up now as the series grows older, but it remains one of my favorite manga of all time (hence why it'll get five stars regardless). The characters are engaging, beautiful, multilayered, and wonderful. Seeing their journeys grow and change really hits me. There are some pages in the later volumes that really, really hit me hard even now and flash me back to that time when I first read them. This is
