Narrative To Books Ondskan

Weigh Up Epithetical Books Ondskan
Evil and violence, rarely makes such a strong impression. Maybe it is because it was accompanied by wishes for peace and tolerance as well. Ondskan is a book about all of the above; it discusses domestic violence (a son beaten by the father) and violence as a way to power (the reality at the Swedish boys' boarding school, which is the main setting). The main character Erik has to cope with both, and find a way to win over these and over his oppressors with or without the use of violence himself.

I was probably about 13 years when I read this. I remember loving it so much, even though the violence was rather brutal at times. Especially when he beats the shit out of that one person - cant remember who it was though... and it was so different from what I read back then (and back then I read LOADS) that it stuck in my mind I suppose. Do recommend! Will read it again in any case. And watch the film, now that we live in a world where subtitles exist (thank God)

This book simply changed my life. I was a youngster, had just found the passion for reading. This book was collecting dust in our bookshelf, so I decided to take a look.. Mainly 'cause of the catching yet simple title.I love the way Guillou writes, how he brings up the details and how he has put so much work in generating his auto-biographical story into this novel. Raw, yet touching.

My teacher made me read this and I will never forgive her. This book sucks, partly because the main character didn't have one single flaw whatsoever! While reading this book (and that took me forever) I forgot that there actually exist good books out there, I gotta go and remind myself.

It was halfway through this book that I realized that Eric seemed like a very untrustworthy narrator. This book and its events were said to be true and yet everything was in very black and white.Eric, and everybody who supported him was good and anybody who opposed him was bad.Im not saying that the people in the book who opposed him were good, they did incredibly gruesome things. Some of the things that Eric have to go through in this book are just downright torture, this isnt your typical

I liked it a lot more this time than the first time I read it. I read it in high school and I remember really hating it. But Im glad I gave it a second chance as I really liked it this time around!

This was a very thrilling book to read, and as the titel states there is a lot of evil involved. The main character Erik is very intelligent, and it really show in his train of thought and dialogue with the other characters. The book questions a lot about evil. Is it okay to turn a blind eye like his mother and teachers did? Is it right to fight evil with evil? Overall I found this book to be thrilling and smart.
